NEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE then I can post it here <333333
ah fuck @honourablebravery I did the dumbass thing again of posting to the wrong blog so here, had you given that book to the Master and not the Doctor, this would have been the post:
The Master chirps in quiet delight at the presentation of the Kerblam box–he trusts, without bubble wrap.
“Why, Twirly,” he croons, “what a lovely gesture? Is this for the integration of your circuitry into the TARDIS matrix, or were you made aware that my birthday by earth’s calendar is in a couple of wee–?”
Having opened the box during this smugly oozing chatter, he’s discovered what’s inside.
A single, exceedingly ugly, purple argyle trouser sock.
“ … Okay! So! Your default programming is still a work in progress. Duly noted.”
He comes up for air, a drowned rat, sputtering and coughing and fuming with disappointment. Particularly when he sees her arms are wet up to the elbows and she’s holding the chains that had restrained him within the tank.
“Theeeete! Bloody HELL. It was only 180 seconds! You panicked! LOOK, if Houdini can impress you, then SO can I!”
💞: What was their first love like?: [ The Doctor ]
Oh my darling… Strap in, this is going to take a while.
The Doctor’s first love was an all-consuming, all-devouring conflagration that ended in a mass of embers and ashes smoldering on the barren soil.
They fell in love on a planet called Gallifrey, when they were just a child. A small child, lost and lonely, wandering the red fields between property borders [Houses] when they met their counterpart. The Master.
They were different– Koschei [The Master] was logical and meticulous, while Theta [The Doctor] was impulsive and childish. Koschei planned and charted while Theta ran wild and talked of dreams and traveling. But yet they were the same. Both of them dealt with nightmares. Both dealt with horrific bullying and abuse. Both heard the whispering in the waves, both saw the entities that lurked in the shadows. They made one another stronger, better, faster- validated.
It wasn’t long before best friends became crushes, and crushes became lovers, and lovers became soulmates. They spent every possible moment together. But there were problems, you see. Physical touch was seen as primitive, archaic and more importantly, illegal on Gallifrey at that time. Emotional attachments were unheard of, unspeakable, something to avoid at all costs and ultimately, worthy of exile.
How dare they hold hands? How dare they kiss? How dare they love? Though, love is too weak a word for what they found in those red fields. Too shallow, too mortal, too human. They belonged to Koschei, and Koschei belonged to them. Two halves of one single being, cloven in half at their Looming and dared to be kept apart, the threads of their souls made from the same star-stuff.
Their love was a tapestry of curiosity and excitement, obsession and agony, secrecy and longing, pain and pleasure, torment and relief, tragedy and music, passion and fire, blood and laughter- the lightest and the darkest moments of their long lives were spent together, and apart.
I’ve gone on long enough about what it was like, so I’ll spare the details and complexities about events that surround the Doctor and the Master’s relationship, but I will at least tell you how it Officially Ended:
The Council found out about their love and decided to use various means to telepathically alter and manipulate the Doctor. Years of this lead to the Doctor being Bonded to [marrying] someone else [Patience] and Looming around 14 children with her [it was used as a bargaining chip ultimatum by the Council].
The manipulation continued and, after years of the Doctor and the Master growing apart, the Council threw in the gauntlet- they told the Doctor that the Master [a Truant Officer at that time] was tasked with arresting the Doctor and Lady Larn [Susan], and bringing them to their executions for breaking various Gallifreyan laws [and because of who Lady Larn is actually related to].
So the Doctor took Lady Larn [Susan], altered her records in the Gallifreyan database [which is why everyone thinks she’s their granddaughter ; she’s not], stole a TARDIS and fled Gallifrey, abandoning the Master out of fear, rage, and two broken hearts- they didn’t even say goodbye. Thus began the Doctor’s adventures through time and space, thus began the war between the Doctor and the Master and thus ended the Doctor’s first relationship [first love].
[NOTE: 98% of this is pure Actual Canon. I had to skip over A LOT of Canon backstory, or this would have been novel-sized.]
