Have you tried BC powders? Are you dehydrated? Caffeine withdrawl?

//Oh friend you’re kind to suggest this stuff.  I see a neurologist regularly and we’ve reached a dead end.  I take botox shots in the head to numb the nerves in my head and neck and shoulders every three months, but unfortunately insurance is refusing coverage right now until I see my NEW neurologist and he writes them a formal “you must cover this procedure for her” letter, and that won’t happen until the 29th of this month, then I’m told I have to expect two more weeks before insurance will respond.  U_U;

I have tried anticonvulsants and multiple types of antidepressants as prophylactics. I’m on an SNRI that works at least minimally.  I also take feverfew and magnesium oxide and yes, oh yes, hydrate with water nonstop.  I do drink too much caffeine.

What are BC powders? :O

This might be a dumb question, but did your opinion on whether the Master could gain redemption change between TEOT and the Doctor Falls? Or, more interestingly, World Enough and Time and The Doctor Falls?

“We’re all capable of the most incredible change. We can evolve while still staying true to who we are. We can honor who we’ve been and choose who we want to be next.” –the Thirteenth Doctor, Series Eleven Episode 1, The Woman Who Fell To Earth.  ❤

That aside, it’s not at ALL a dumb question. It’s one I grappled with a lot after The Doctor Falls aired. It was truly devastating to me to watch character regression of that magnitude, after End of Time.  But I don’t believe that it’s evidence that the Master is actually “a worse person” than he appeared to be during the RTD era so much as it’s a difference of how to frame his character.  RTD liked to use dark whimsey, and Moffat was more into flashy grimdark dramatics that translated less well from a previous era’s Master (he also pushed, perhaps a little too obviously, and forcedly, Missy’s redemption at ANY prior Master’s expense, when I always thought Missy’s evolution as a person was obvious without throwing any other Masters under the bus).

Additionally canon hints  that during the briefly mentioned period during which the Master was on Gallifrey, Rassilon certainly didn’t let him get away with assaulting him with intent to kill, without some kind of punishment, likely both physical and mental. And by mental I mean involving Time Lord psychic energy, memory erasure, and distorted memories and perceptions. Rassilon and the Time Council deeply feared and loathed the Doctor and the Master and were keen on maintaining what Rassilon himself referred to as the “Enmity of the Ages” between them, because they have long been the most notorious rebel outcasts of Gallifrey’s Great Houses.  The Master referred to his exile from Gallifrey as a “mutual kicking-me-out” which confirms this notion that friction existed between himself and the Time Council, probably after they conducted all kinds of memory distortions to delete his memory of the truce he and the Doctor arrived at.

I also believe that Simm Master doesn’t want to “Stand with” the Doctor not for wholly selfish reasons, but also because he has come to see doing so distortedly (and sometimes with the aid of the Doctor’s own actions, with Missy) as equivalent to total surrender.  To losing who he is completely, and to becoming a fill-in replica Doctor.  This is because his mind is highly sensitive and permeable (he has always canonically proven to be especially gifted at Time Lord telepathy–all those “you will obey me!” sequences in Classic Who) to the will of others and he has had to force himself to block out the person who has always mattered to him most (The Doctor).  Some of these ideas are not just my own.  @natalunasans can point you to her friends who brought this up incredibly articulately, and @trionrevolutonary has some of their own theories as well.  You might also talk to @alez-on-mars and  @doctamastacanon  who share a LOT of my qualms with The Doctor Falls.

Primarily, I believe this was a case of clumsily handing off a villain from a VERY different past era of the show to a present showrunner, for the sake of the novelty of a double-Master episode, and while the idea was wonderful, the execution was just slightly off, and nobody suffered for it more than Simm’s Master.

He was largely in character, in terms of details, but in terms of the larger character, it felt very much like someone replicating an old painting, but with an old photocopy of the original that made all the colors of the replication slightly inaccurate.

So no, in the end? My opinion is unchanged. If anything because Missy comes AFTER Simm Master, the germ of her existence lies directly within him, he gives birth to her, meaning that potential for good lies within him (also remember Professor Yana!) and MISSY changed for the better.  Simm Master just needed 70 years or more of the Doctor’s undivided attention and patient care, too.  We become what we believe we are. We believe we are what we are told we are.

So… I’m starting a new non-fandom linked RP account and I’ve never done Tumblr RP before though I have some narrative RP experience. Any advice for beginners to get our names out there?

//Wow! I’m honored you’re asking me, really!!! ❤

Congratulations and I hope you have FUN and as cliched as that sounds I’m prefacing this with how important that is.  Do what you do with the intent to enjoy yourself, and never let those who have lost sight of the fact that this is a HOBBY suck you into a state of feeling obligated to a certain rate or skill level of reply.  These are people with whom you should not associate.  They do not have a healthy grasp of a balanced lifestyle.  And there are unfortunately a lot of them here, and everywhere on the internet.

That said:

–Go into blog settings and make yourself a few “pages.”  These should include an about section briefly describing your muse; and a rules page (stating what you are and aren’t comfortable with writing, including potentially triggering content).  Some people eventually also make relationship pages describing meaningful relationships between their muse (character) and that of writing partners.  If you make a relationships page, you may want to decide if you are going to be “exclusive” with any muses of canon fandom characters.  Meaning you will not write with other versions of those characters. This can be a sticky issue so talk it out openly with your partners.

–Make your blog eye-catching but also accessible.  No tiny fonts, no graphics that convolute your layout so much that people can’t find your about or rules pages, or your askbox.

–Make, or ask a friend to make, a promo.  You post this as a photoset, with links in the post body to your askbox, rules, about, and verses (if you wish to be “multiverse,” which means you have multiple discrete storylines that don’t overlap, with multiple character relationships, sometimes with duplicates of the same characters.  Most blogs are multiverse because it avoids territorialism and hurt feelings among your partners).

–Communicate, communicate, communicate. Out of character or “ooc,” communicate with your partners constantly, via asks or im’s.  Always be mindful of personal emotions leeching into characterization.  Always be mindful of what you’re comfortable writing. If you don’t like what’s going on in an rp, talk about it privately with your partner. Partners worth having will respect your needs.

–Don’t be discouraged. Fandomless OC’s can take time to get traction.  Post brief “open starters” (meaning short posts that get the ball rolling for action, that many different kinds of characters can approach) and TAG those starters with multiple fandoms that interest you, even though you are fandomless.  It will put you on the radar of lots of different kinds of blogs. Tagging posts on Tumblr is a super strategic way to get noticed.

I hope this helps and you are of course welcome to approach any of my muses for stuff!

I got one. Did you ever get… like… tired of circulating your life around The Doctor before you guys finally got together? To spend all of that energy plotting only to be thwarted by slight differences in values again and again? It seems tiring. Was there ever a time where you thought it was a lost case and you stopped pursuing them? What made you start again?

“Well I ‘got one,’ too.  D’you ever get tired of hearing your own stupid empty inane rudely prying words come out your presumptuous gob, aimed at making me marinate in past regrets, or is this a new look on you, you insufferable earth ape?”

It was Missy.

I started again, after Missy.

Not when she stabbed me, no: but directly after I shot her.  Something about the senseless act of mutual self-harm unlocked memories I’d lost. Memories Rassilon had stolen, when I’d returned to Gallifrey’s timelock, and been “cured.”

”Fixed.”

I was descending the lift on Mondas, descending it to crawl aboard my TARDIS.  With each and every ding of the bell, each floor I sank nearer the black hole, nearer hell, nearer a grave of my own making, the memories rushed back:  the Doctor, sparing me on Christmas day, and my reciprocation.  ‘Wonder what I’d be without you’ and ‘yeah.’  The conversation in the wasteland.  Little kindnesses he’d performed, throughout our childhood, that the Time Council had so skillfully slipped from my memory databanks.

Things Missy had, of course, remembered, because in that moment, I was remembering them.

But then I went off-course of destiny.

I survived.

And I dropped everything, and did as Missy said, and went looking for the Doctor.  To say, ‘sorry, and yes, yes. Take me with you. Yes, my answer is yes now. Yes.’

I am the me that should not still be alive.

But here I am. Here we are.

My apology to the universe.

There’s a decidedly mischievous air about her as Layla quietly walks up behind the Master. The instant she reaches him, a flower crown – made up of some of the rarest flowers from all over the universe throughout time, many of them long extinct – appears in her hands, which she swiftly places on his head before darting back several steps. The young demigod examines her handiwork with a critical eye before proclaiming with a smug grin, “Now it’s perfect.” //immortaljackal

The Master looks strangely subdued.  He feels the flowers, plucks one for inspection from his head and inhales its aroma.  He closes his eyes. And he smiles. And the smile is … . peaceful.

“No one’s … thought me gentle enough to give me a flower crown. Not since I was a small boy.  Not ever.”

He huffs, and quickly grazes his fingers beneath each eye, and feebly laughs.

    “Thanks.”Â
