I aint gonna articulate this right but I’ve noticed there’s this weird sub culture on tumblr where it’s frowned upon to say anything positive about your life. Like occasionally I see someone post something like “I love my job so much” and a few responses are like “wish I could find a job :/” or “must be nice to not have depression” and it’s really strange. A lot of people are pulling themselves out of dark places or finally figuring out how to be happy (no easy feat) and they don’t need you projecting your own demons on their moments of happiness they wanted to share.

Shout out to Series 11 for having  African-Americans write and direct the Rosa episode and a man who has Indian heritage writing for Demons on the Punjab, this is how you more correctly do diversity, you allow the people who are most effected by the subject material in charge of the subject material.

Thought I’d add to the good vibes of tonight’s episode by mentioning something everyone’s overlooked.

Yaz mentions that she goes to a mosque.

A show watched by millions across the globe has a Muslim protagonist!

Honestly, Doctor Who might save the world someday.

what she says: i’m fine

what she means: that episode was so brilliantly and beautifully written by the outstanding malorie blackman. it handled racial issues whilst educating young children and adults about rosa parks and why her story is so important, young people may have a new hero in thirteen but they also have a new hero in rosa parks and i think that is incredible. the doctor who creaters, cast and malorie blackman really did what all primary schools in britain and perhaps worldwide fail to do: teaching children the importance and story of black history. the episode was without a doubt the most moving and poignant thing ever shown on bbc and possibly on television as it was powerful, hard hitting, emotional and everything was done right from the representation of rosa to the music choice (rise up was the perfect piece to use) to the ending where we saw the real rosa. the best episode of doctor who to date !!!!!

Some random thoughts on Good Omens and the actors’ commentary at NYCC, regarding Aziraphale’s love for Crowley and Crowley’s love for Aziraphale.

I know there’s already “queer baiting” commentary in the tags, and I’d hold off on definitive judgment on that front till the show comes out, but…as an Ace, it’s rather refreshing to have two characters who (canonically?) love each other and who will be portrayed as such by their actors without having sex be part of the picture.

I know fandom is all about getting characters to do the dirty and “it’s not real unless they kiss” and whatnot. But being able to portray a deep affection and love for someone without it immediately being labeled unresolved sexual tension is a good thing and–I’d argue–should be encouraged more broadly.
